How to Choose a Glass Perfume Bottle Supplier in China: A 10-Point Checklist
Short answer: A good perfume bottle supplier can show you the exact mold in stock, confirm the neck finish fits your pump, send production-grade samples, and explain who does each decoration step. If a supplier cannot answer these clearly, keep looking.
The 10-point checklist
| # | What to check | Why it matters | What to ask for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mold ownership | Stock molds are cheaper and faster; a new mold adds cost and 2–4 weeks | Photo or video of the bottle from the existing mold |
| 2 | Neck finish | A mismatch between bottle and pump is the most common perfume packaging failure | Neck drawing with size (e.g. 15 mm crimp / FEA 15) |
| 3 | Glass weight and base thickness | Heavy bases feel premium but affect cost and shipping weight | Weight in grams and a cross-section photo |
| 4 | Capacity tolerance | Brim-full and fill-level volumes differ | Brim capacity and recommended fill level |
| 5 | Decoration route | Spray coating, frosting, printing and hot stamping are often done by separate workshops | Who does each step, and where |
| 6 | Color matching | Spray colors shift between batches without a standard | Pantone reference and an approved color sample |
| 7 | Closures as a set | Bottle, pump, collar and cap from different vendors may not fit | A tested set: bottle + pump + collar + cap |
| 8 | Quality standard | Bubbles, stones, uneven bases and scratches are normal defects to control | AQL level and a defect list with photos |
| 9 | Packing | Heavy glass bottles break if cartons are weak | Inner dividers, carton strength, drop test |
| 10 | Lead time | Decoration and cap production often take longer than the glass itself | A schedule for each component |
Red flags
- The "factory" cannot show the production line or the mold, only catalog photos
- Very low prices with no mention of the neck finish or glass weight
- No sample policy, or samples that differ from the quoted specification
- Decoration quoted without color approval
How Shanxi fits in
Shanxi Province, especially the Qixian glass cluster, has decades of experience in glass forming, polishing and hand-finishing. Many perfume bottle factories in the region combine heavy-base flint glass with decoration such as air-bubble effects, polished facets and spray-coated gradients.
